I was born in Milan, Italy on March 14, 1950. I inherited my passion for painting from my father, a successful painter and mosaicist. I created my first works at my father's studio, almost immediately moving toward a contemporary nonfigurative style marked by the influence of Pollock's immediacy of color and Hartung's and Mathieu's research on sign. Apart from a few figurative paintings born out of existential disquiet bound to the very early stages of my artistic activity, the whole of my work is founded on sign. Refusing fruitless technicalities in favor of the free flow of inner emotional magma, in over thirty years of research and expression, I have developed my own personal "semantics of spontaneity"; and it is with this same simple directness that I propose myself today.
